November 2025: Current portrait of immigration in Quebec and the key role of welcoming organizations.
Meeting with Lina, a newcomer and participant in SIIQ 2025.
30 October 2025
In this month of November 2025, the face of immigration in Quebec continues to evolve at a steady pace. According to the latest data published by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI), more than 77,000 new permanent residents settled in the province over the past year, confirming the vitality and diversity of the migratory journeys that shape Quebec society.
The main countries of origin remain France, Morocco, the Philippines, India, and Haiti, but there is a significant increase in arrivals from Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa. These new faces contribute to enriching Quebec's economic and cultural fabric, but also serve as a reminder of the importance of human and structured support from the very first months of settlement.
It is in this context that the Quebec Integration and Immigration Fair (SIIQ), held on November 29 and 30, 2025, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, takes on its full meaning. A true hub of opportunities and exchanges, the event brings together community organizations, employers, and public institutions around a common objective: to facilitate the social, linguistic, and professional integration of newcomers.
Among the key players present at the fair, La Maisonnée once again distinguishes itself by its personalized and inclusive approach, offering reception services, French language training, employment assistance, and comprehensive support for any immigrant wishing to settle permanently in Quebec.
Meeting with Lina, a newcomer and participant in SIIQ 2025.
On the first day of the fair, we met Lina, a young information technology engineer from Lebanon, who arrived in Montreal last February. She shares her experience of the integration process and what she hopes to find at the Integration and Immigration Fair.
Q: Lina, can you tell us about your first few months in Quebec?
Lina: Of course! When I arrived two months ago, I was full of energy and eager to start over. But very quickly, I understood that the job market here works differently. Even with a good level of French and several years of experience, I encountered obstacles: recognition of diplomas, adapting my resume, understanding cultural expectations… I sometimes felt like I had to relearn everything, and since then I’ve been stuck.
What surprised you most about this integration process?
Lina: The importance of networking. In Lebanon, you apply directly and often get interviews. Here, I discovered that networking is essential. It’s a real change in mindset. Fortunately, by coming here today and talking with you, I discovered the free workshops offered by La Maisonnée on job searching in Quebec and social integration. I hope to learn how to present my skills differently. This gives me confidence in the future.
Which services or activities interest you most after discovering the organization La Maisonnée?
Lina: Without hesitation, the interview preparation workshops and how to create a Quebec-style resume. I would also like to be able to get individual support to perhaps discover leisure activities and integrate more into Quebec society. You told me about the outing to Mont Orford this month, as well as volunteering and the intercultural pairings, which interest me a lot. Beyond finding a job, I’m looking to connect with other newcomers because I think it would really benefit me.
What does the Integration and Immigration Fair represent for you?
Lina: It’s a great opportunity! I’m going to meet employers, but also to attend conferences and learn about my rights, housing, and French language training—services that are all offered by your organization, so I’m lucky! This kind of event provides a real boost; you feel supported and surrounded. And knowing that organizations like La Maisonnée are present is very reassuring.
The essential role of welcoming organizations like La Maisonnée.
Lina’s experience perfectly illustrates the reality of thousands of newcomers: motivation, skills, and hope, but also a need for guidance and practical support. For over 46 years, La Maisonnée has acted as a pillar in this journey. In 2025, its role is more central than ever, with services that adapt to new immigration policies and the diverse profiles of economic immigrants, students, refugees, and asylum seekers.
At the SIIQ on November 29 and 30, the La Maisonnée team will be offering:
• Workshops in participatory spaces on job searching, intercultural communication, and recognition of prior learning
- Individual meetings with community workers and employment and placement counselors
- Presentations of La Maisonnée’s projects, free services, and programs on housing, French language training, and community life in Quebec.
- An on-site resume clinic to help you leave with a great resume in hand!
A society that continues to be built thanks to immigration
As Quebec faces a significant labor shortage and regional retention challenges, the successful integration of newcomers has become a major collective issue. Testimonials like Lina’s remind us that immigration is not just about numbers, but about human stories of courage and resilience. Thanks to organizations like La Maisonnée, these journeys are transformed into lasting successes and tangible contributions to Quebec society.
Conclusion
The Quebec Integration and Immigration Fair, Fall 2025 edition, promises to be a highlight for all those who wish to build their future here. Between resources, support, and inspiration, every encounter counts. La Maisonnée reaffirms its mission: to welcome, support, inform, and share with every immigrant so that they can find their place, at their own pace, in an increasingly inclusive and supportive Quebec.
