Created on October 1, 1980, the Régie du logement is now known as the Tribunal administratif du logement. Does the government offer specific funding to asylum seekers to pay for their housing?

Until recently asylum seekers with few resources were only entitled to financial assistance as a last resort to pay for their accommodation. La Maisonnée can explain the eligibility requirements, help you fill out the forms and set up your file.

There is three types of social housing: Low-Income Housing (HLM), housing co-operative (COOP) and non-profit organizations. All types of social housing, except non-subsidised COOP, are not open to asylum seekers. You have to be a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen to qualify. Gross income can have an impact in some cases. La Maisonnée can help you fill out the forms and build a case.
