La Maisonnée’s 2023 Tax Clinic

Tax season is here again, and for many newcomers to Canada, filing their first tax return can be a daunting task. However, La Maisonnée, an organization dedicated to supporting immigrants and refugees, offers a comforting solution: the 2023 Tax Clinic.

The La Maisonnée Tax Clinic is a valuable opportunity for newcomers to Canada to receive professional and affordable assistance in completing their first tax return. Don’t let the stress of taxes overwhelm you – let La Maisonnée guide you to tax peace of mind.

 

Registration Dates and Times

Registration for the Tax Clinic will be open from February 27, 2024. Sessions will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from March 5 to April 11. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. All you need to do is bring your necessary immigration documents and tax statements for verification. Once these checks have been carried out, La Maisonnée will give you an appointment for the consultation. Don’t forget to bring a USB stick to make the process easier.

Eligible Clientele

The La Maisonnée Tax Clinic aims to help newcomers meet their tax obligations. Thus, the eligible clientele includes:
• Permanent residents and new arrivals since 2023 on Canadian territory.
• Recognized refugees with an IRB decision notice and a Quebec Selection Certificate (C.S.Q).
• Temporary students with C.S.Q.
• Temporary workers with C.S.Q.
• Asylum seekers with less than a year in the country.

Registration fees

La Maisonnée strives to make this service accessible to everyone. Registration fees are as follows:
• Single person: $10
• Single-parent family: $10
• Couple without children: $15
• Couple with child(ren): $20

 

Accompaniment and Support

La Maisonnée understands that administrative and financial tasks can be complex, especially for those who are faced with a new system in the host country. This is why La Maisonnée offers comprehensive support to help newcomers understand and navigate these procedures. In addition to the Tax Clinic, La Maisonnée offers free access to various help and support services for immigration documents, job searches, as well as social integration and leisure activities. In addition, La Maisonnée offers support to families for youth and schooling, thus ensuring a smooth transition into life in Canada.
